The 2024 Corn Belt League season in Omaha brought together over 150 collegiate baseball players from 70 colleges and universities, competing on seven local teams in a 30-game schedule. This summer was filled with standout performances and special events.
One of the season's highlights was the Military Appreciation Game, which honored a local veteran through a special Fallen Hero Ceremony. The event was held in partnership with the U.S. Military WarDogs organization and included raffle drawings and various activities, uniting the community in support of military veterans.
The season also featured the In-State vs. Out-of-State All-Star Game, where the In-State Team emerged victorious. Fans, players, coaches, and even umpires enjoyed the Corn Belt League's signature grilled corn on the cob, with over 400 ears served.
The Red Raiders dominated the regular season, finishing with an impressive 22-10 record and earning the title of regular season champions. However, the postseason belonged to the Black Sox. Despite finishing the regular season with a 9-20 record, they went on a run winning three straight games, including a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Red Raiders in the championship game.
On a national stage, the Corn Belt League was represented at the SummerBall Showdown in Wichita. Our CBL Omaha team competed against 23 other teams from across the country, making an impressive run with a 4-1 record before being eliminated in the semifinals. The team’s performance showcased the talent and spirit of our league, earning respect on a national level.
As the 2024 season comes to a close, the Corn Belt League extends its deepest gratitude to the teams, coaches, and fans for their dedication, sportsmanship, and unwavering support throughout the summer. Here's to another successful season of Corn Belt League baseball!
