Every summer, the Corn Belt League brings top collegiate baseball players to the Omaha/Council Bluffs area to compete, grow, and chase their dreams. But behind every great summer season is an essential team member you might not see on the field: our host families.
Since 2016, the Corn Belt League has relied on generous local families to provide student-athletes with a welcoming home during the 10-week summer season. By opening your home, you give these young men more than a place to sleep—you offer guidance, support, and a sense of family that helps them thrive both on and off the field.
Why Become a Host Family?
Hosting a player is a rewarding experience. Families quickly discover the joy of connecting with young athletes from across the country—and even internationally. For many players, this is their first summer away from home, and your support plays a vital role in helping them feel comfortable and part of the Omaha community.
As a host family, you’ll:
Provide housing and basic meals for your player(s), with access to a private room and bathroom if possible.
Share your knowledge of Omaha, from local restaurants to must-see attractions like the Zoo or College World Series.
Offer a welcoming environment, guidance, and friendship throughout the season.
Perks of Being a Host Family
We want our host families to feel appreciated every step of the way. Benefits include:
Corn Belt League apparel to show your team pride
Tickets to every game so you can cheer on your player
Free summer camps and Homerun membership to the StrikeZone
Professional photos with your hosted player
In addition, host families are invited to special events such as a Pre-Season Social and Host Family Appreciation Day, where the league celebrates the incredible contributions families make each summer.
What Hosting Looks Like
Players typically arrive in late May and stay through the end of July. Families are asked to provide two meals a day or the supplies for the player to prepare their own meals, clear house rules, and access to laundry facilities. While players manage their own transportation and summer jobs, your support, encouragement, and presence make all the difference.
Families may host one or more players, and while you cannot choose your player, we carefully match athletes with families based on household needs and requests.
Make a Difference, Build Lifelong Connections
Being a Corn Belt League host family is more than providing a place to stay—it’s an opportunity to enrich a young athlete’s summer, experience the excitement of collegiate baseball, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Many families find themselves staying in touch with their players long after the season ends.
The 2026 season is just around the corner, and we’re looking for caring families in Omaha and the surrounding areas to join our host family team. Open your home, share your summer, and be part of something truly special.
