The Corn Belt League is officially growing again! With more college baseball players from across the country expressing interest in playing in Omaha and more local athletes wanting to stay home for the summer, the league is expanding to nine Omaha-based teams for the 2026 season. The increased demand made the decision clear.
“Our goal has always been to provide a competitive environment that players and coaches know and trust,” said CBL Commissioner Joe Siwa. “This expansion allows us to welcome even more talented players into a league that’s built on development, opportunity, and high-level baseball.”
To celebrate the new team addition, fans are getting the final say on its name. The league is hosting a three-day naming vote, Wednesday through Friday, with three uniquely local finalists:
Cluckers
Bugeaters
River Bandits
The winning name will be revealed this weekend.
The Corn Belt League’s continued growth highlights Omaha’s reputation as a summer baseball hub and we look forward to an exciting season in 2026!
