Corn Belt League June Recap: Osborne and Evans Headline First Month Standouts

As the calendar flips to July, the Corn Belt League has officially completed its first month of action and the 2026 season is already shaping up to be one of the most competitive in league history. Teams continue to battle for positioning in the standings while individual players have emerged as some of the top performers in collegiate summer baseball.

At the top of the standings, the River Bandits have surged into first place behind a balanced offense and strong pitching staff. The Filthballers have won four consecutive games to keep pace near the top, while the Cropdusters, Black Sox, Haymakers, Red Raiders, and the rest of the league continue to battle through a tightly contested playoff race where every game carries significant importance.

June Player of the Month: Connor Osborne (DePauw University) – River Bandits

Few hitters in the country enjoyed a month at the plate quite like Connor Osborne.

The DePauw University outfielder was one of the most dangerous offensive threats in the Corn Belt League throughout June, earning June Player of the Month honors after leading the league in both batting average (.531) and hits (17). Osborne also showcased his power and run-producing ability, blasting five home runs while driving in 13 runs. He added two doubles and a triple, consistently finding ways to impact games for the River Bandits.

Whether it was delivering clutch hits, driving the ball out of the park, or setting the tone offensively, Osborne established himself as one of the premier players in the league during the first month of the season.

Congratulations to Connor on earning June Player of the Month honors and putting together one of the most impressive offensive performances of the summer so far.

June Pitcher of the Month: Koleson Evans (Buena Vista University) – Black Sox

On the mound, no pitcher was more dominant than Black Sox right-hander Koleson Evans.

The Buena Vista University standout put together an exceptional month, posting a 1.19 ERA while leading the entire league with 49 strikeouts across 29.1 innings pitched. Evans also recorded a remarkable 0.92 WHIP and limited opposing hitters to a .151 batting average.

His ability to consistently work deep into games while missing bats at an elite rate made him one of the most valuable arms in the league throughout June.

Congratulations to Koleson on earning June Pitcher of the Month honors. We look forward to watching his continued success this summer and following his career at Buena Vista University this spring.
